San Antonio, Texas Staycation at Omni Hotel Colonnade
All opinions are my own.
Hey friends, I’m so thrilled to share my experience with you about Omni Hotel Colonnade in San Antonio, Texas. Before I dive in, lets chat a bit about staycations! You’ve heard of them right?
A staycation is a vacation in your home city. They are super fun, relaxing, and tend to be cheaper than a vacation away. I love to take staycations at least once a year. It shakes things up and gives my family a chance to enjoy fun hotel living for a day or two.
What we Do?
We enjoy the hotel experience and stay in mostly. Sleeping in, getting room service, taking advantage of hotel activities (some have kids cooking classes, yoga, etc.), swimming, eating in the hotel restaurant, going to the spa, shopping in the gift shop, and so much more!
It gets me excited just sharing it!
I’ve lived in San Antonio for almost 15 years now. There are TONS of fabulous hotels all across the city. When I choose my annual staycation destination this year, I look no further than Omni. I’ve been in love with Omni hotels forever! They are luxurious (without breaking the bank), staff are friendly, and so many amenities.
It helps that I lived near one for several years too!
In fact, when my parents visit, they stay in Omni 100% of the time. Literally. Every.single.time! They don’t even entertain any other hotel chain. The price, amenties, offers don’t matter. Talk about being hotel loya haha.
Spoiler Alert: My favorite things at Omni
- The food
- The activities
- The amentities
- It’s huge
- Friendly staff
- Comfortable, relaxing stay
- A lovely getaway from home
- Awesome gift store
- Did I mention, the food? Haha
So, without further delay, here’s a review of my recent stay…
When you enter the lobby, it feels like a truly luxurious feeling. The deep earth tones, the doorman greeting you, the expansive lobby are all amazing. Making you way up the elevator, you feel like you are in store for a treat, and that feeling will come to fruition when you see your room!
We stay in the Omni Suite, which is a bit bigger than the traditional room. It a separate living area with sofa couch and television, along with microwave and mini fridge (by request). You walk down a cute short hallway that leads to the bedroom which hosts a super comfy bed, another TV, and a view! Psst..you’ll be on the 20th floor!
You can see all the way to downtown. It’s a gorgeous view and it lights up at night.
By the way, they have some AMAZING themed rooms. Check out the Discovery Suite and Aquatica Suite below.
What to Do
The hotel is so amazing you won’t wanna leave, literally. They have a restaurant, gorgeous gift shop, pool, and fitness center. I’ll talk more about the food below. The pool is indoor and outdoor with a jacuzzi and a refreshments stand (bar) with the tastiest mixed cocktails I’ve had in a while! The fitness center and sauna are incredible, always clean and a pleasure to experience.
Finally, right? Ok, so the food is not cheap. It’s not crazy expensive but expect hotel prices. First up, their restaurant Bolos. You’ll see a HUGE sign for Bolos from the highway. You won’t wanna miss the experience.
It’s a quaint, dimly lit restaurant. It’s quiet. I’ve never seen it crazy busy and we’ve gone pretty much every day of the week. We’ve gone there so much, the staff knows us, which I love. They are kid-friendly and offer to-go cups with straws and coloring books with crayons to keep your kiddos busy while you enjoy your meal.
Am I boring if I order the same meal EVERY TIME? It’s amazing: the filet mignon with seasonal vegetables. The best filet I’ve ever had and it’s great every time.
I’ve experienced room service as well and it was just as tasty as the restaurant. Hotel food isn’t good all the time but it’s been truly exceptional at the Omni!
